THE GARDEN LODGE
The Garden Lodge is a small guesthouse in the town of Kasane, Botswana, which borders the Chobe National Park. A combination of beautiful flowers like hibiscus, frangipani and bougainvillea; tropical plants including banana and paw paw trees; and the riverside location make this a lovely tranquil spot to spend a few days. This area of Chobe National Park can be very busy. There are numerous large hotels in Kasane which utilise the park and the river and so, at the height of the season, this area can all seem a bit like a circus. The garden lodge is a small haven of tranquility among the chaos, and a delightful spot for a few days in Kasane.
We are truly a garden lodge. The combination of unlimited water and constant sunshine allows hibiscus, frangipani, bougainvillea, banana and paw paw to grow in profusion. Guests love the garden and the prolific birds attracted to the flowers and fruits.
Rooms
The lodge has eight bedrooms (4 standard double/twin bed rooms, 3 family rooms with 4 beds each and 1 smaller double/twin room.). All rooms with own bathrooms and private verandahs overlooking the Chobe River.
Dining
Our lounge and dining room, as well as the rooms, are furnished in teak and wicker. All décor comes from Botswana or one of the surrounding countries. Guests have the choice of sitting inside under the thatched roof, outside by the swimming pool or make use of our boma in the garden. Our upstairs lounge is overlooking the spacious garden, and is decorated with old African masks and beautiful baskets from various African countries.Guests have the choice of a continental or English breakfast. Lunches are buffet style with a choice of hot dishes, salads, cold meat and cheeses. Dinner is a set menu, however, our kitchen will happily cater for guest’s individual requirements. We bake daily our own bread which is served with all meals. Generally guests sit at one table, which allows them to meet each other and often the conversation continues well after the meal has ended!
Recreation
The Lodge activities revolve around game viewing by vehicle and boat into Chobe National Park. Chobe is a hot, dry region and for most of the year the wildlife is dependent on the river for water, making for truly spectacular game drives and boat cruises. Elephants are seen in the hundreds and buffalo in the thousands. Lions are an almost daily sighting, as are impala, sable antelope, giraffe, warthog and numerous other species. Traditionally, early morning game drives and late afternoon boat cruises are safari routine; we are more flexible.
